City officials have announced a hotline that you can text for updates on parade safety, traffic, and weather, all you have to do is text MARDIGRAS17 to 888777. The city’s website is set to feature updates and information on the week’s festivities, including an interactive parade map (http://www.nola.gov/city/mardi-gras/). Here you’re also able to review safety information and enforcement policies—it’s not a bad idea familiarizing yourself with updated ordinances so you don’t find yourself on the wrong side of the law and inside a cell for the weekend. Officers from the New Orleans Police Department will be staffed at 100% through the end of Mardi Gras and will have additional support from State Police, FBI, the New Orleans Fire Department, and the New Orleans Emergency Medical Services.
