MADD & Louisiana State Police Launch “Zero for December”

Posted on Nov 27, 2012 in Personal Injury

Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the Louisiana State Police launched their anti-DWI program, Zero for December, this past Thanksgiving weekend. Zero for December is a highway safety awareness campaign meant to educate drivers about the dangers of impaired driving and to strictly enforce the law. According to Louisiana State POlice Toop C commander Darrin Naquin, “Drunk driving is the most frequent violent crime in America. More than 16,000 people are killed each year in impaired driving accidents. Thirty-eight people were killed in Troop C last year, and 21 of those killed were in alcohol or drug related accidents. Impaired driving damages families and the community.” Troop C of the Louisiana State Police has set up a Christmas tree with white lights. For each death caused by an impaired driver, a white light bulb will be replaced with a red one. Please remember to drive safely during the Holidays and never drink and drive. Call a taxi or designate a driver who won't be drinking.
