Defense Seeks Delay in Case of New Orleans Kickback Scheme
Posted on Nov 15, 2010 in Courts, Local Issues
Attorneys for Mark St. Pierre, an alleged associate of Greg Meffert the former New Orleans technology chief who has been implicated in a scandal involving kickbacks and other illegal bribes, have recently moved to delay the case against their client.
According to some sources, however, it seems unlikely that the case will in fact be delayed due to eagerness on the part of Federal prosecutors to begin court proceedings.
St. Pierre is facing 63 corruption counts as a result of his alleged participation in using city funds for his own private gain.
