New Orleans Drug Defense Lawyers Discuss Felony Arrests
Seth: Having practiced criminal defense law for almost 14 years now, one thing that we’ve done a number of times is represent people that get caught with felony amounts of drugs and other felony charges. So maybe you could talk about some of the uniqueness with felony arrests here in New Orleans.
David: Absolutely, and being arrested with any kind of drug, other than marijuana, for the most part in Louisiana, is a felony. There are obviously different crimes and different penalties that can be assessed by a court if you’re just possessing those drugs compared to if you were possessing them with the intent to distribute or distributing those drugs, you know. And a lot of times that depends on the amount that you’re found with. Were there any other factors around that?
Seth: Over the years, I’ve represented scores of people that have gotten arrested for pounds of marijuana or pounds of narcotics, and these people often, you know, get high bonds set. They’re facing a lot of jail time and they need unique representation and robust representation to help them deal with the situation.
David: Absolutely, and I think that’s something that Bloom Legal definitely offers. You know, you get two attorneys, both yourself and I that help you with the entire case and, you know, a lot of times, if it’s a drug trafficking case, it could be more potential penalties if you were trafficking drugs across state lines. That could bring up whole other issues and federal issues that could be a problem.
Seth: So any sort of drug crimes, drug arrests, especially serious ones, or any sort of complicated felony is what we do here at Bloom Legal. That’s our bread and butter of our practice. Give us a call at 504-599-9997 and we’ll be happy to give you a free evaluation of your case and hopefully work this out for you. Thank you so much.
