Avoiding an Arrest During Mardi Gras in New Orleans
Seth: Carnival and Mardi Gras time in New Orleans is a really special time, but it’s also a time of a lot of drinking and a lot of partying. And David, we deal with a lot of arrests, a lot of people acting out during that period of time. So maybe some tips or safety advice for people on how they can avoid getting into trouble during Mardi Gras season.
David: Absolutely. Well we always want you to have a good time when you come to New Orleans, but obviously, you can’t…there’s still laws here where you need to abide by the law. A lot of times people drink too much, they could get in a fight down in the Quarter, a verbal altercation that could escalate, and a lot of times in those situations during Mardi Gras and during Carnival, the police may show up and they don’t really know what’s going on so they just might arrest everyone and try and figure it out later which is never good for a client.
Seth: So we are blessed to have open container laws here, but that doesn’t mean we can do drugs in public, drugs are still illegal here.
David: Not at all.
Seth: At the same time, public nudity is on the books, illegal, so you should be careful with that, especially if you’re a male. Sometimes they let women get away with that, but we’ve represented both who’ve been exposing themselves. So, alcohol is a…plays a big factor into Mardi Gras and Carnival, but I think if everyone drinks responsibly, they can have a good time. So have a great time at Mardi Gras and hopefully stay out of trouble. Drink plenty of water and just let the good times roll. Call us if you get in trouble, (504) 599-9997.
