The Louisiana State Senate unanimously passed a bill allowing Orleans Parish Traffic Court judges to increase the amount of court costs.
The 32-0 vote on the bill proposed by Sen. Edwin Murray of Violet, LA raised the limit of allowable court costs from the current $10 to $30 which judges can impose upon non-traffic violations.
Pending signature into law by Governor Bobby Jindal, the bill is expected to generate an additional $1.4 – $2.1 million for the courts.
