Comedian Stephen Colbert testified before a House Judiciary Subcommittee this morning on the topic of immigrant farm workers. [caption id="attachment_1040" align="alignright" width="300" caption="Photo Courtesy of grindtv.com"][/caption] Colbert's presence was requested by subcommittee Chairwoman Zoe Lofgren who attended an event as part of the 'Take Our Jobs' campaign with the comedian for an episode of his show: The Colbert Report. The 'Take Our Jobs' campaign is sponsored by the United Farm Workers of America and encourages unemployed Americans to try out jobs typically held by immigrant and itinerant farm workers in order to demonstrate apparent fallacies in the argument made by anti-immigration supporters who claim that illegal aliens are responsible for stealing good jobs from American citizens. Colbert's appearance in Congress was especially notable given that he issued nearly his entire testimony while in character as a Conservative talk show host, leaving members of the House Subcommittee to parse through sarcasm and irony in order to determine his actual opinion on the various issues covered.
