The driver, Jeron Wheeler, was tested for a DWI then arrested and brought to Orleans Parish Prison. When an impaired driver has an accident that results in death, with or without intent, it's considered vehicular homicide. The pedestrian was struck near General De Gaulle and Garden Oaks Drive. The coroner has yet to release the identity of the victim.
