NOPD and State Troopers Issue A “No Refusal” Checkpoint Holiday Weekend

Posted on Nov 27, 2013 in DUI/DWI, Local Issues

During this long, turkey filled holiday weekend, the NOPD and other parishes will be instituting a “No Refusal” holiday weekend. This is part of Louisiana’s efforts to greatly reduce the number of DWI related incidents, which usually increase around holidays. There were around 700 deaths related to DWIs in Louisiana in 2012. At a “No Refusal” checkpoint, a driver is still allowed to refuse, but a judge can sign a warrant to draw a blood sample for testing. Be sure to check our DWI checkpoints map located here to find out checkpoints in and around your area. Never drink and drive. If you are planning on drinking, always use a designated driver. If you are intoxicated and you do get a DWI, please don’t hesitate to call Seth Bloom at Bloom Legal for a consultation. There is nothing easy about dealing with a DWI charge. Let Seth help you through this tough and complicated time. Call Seth Bloom at Bloom Legal, (504) 599-9997, or email info@bloomlegal.com.
