Sources state that he took hold of his wife by the hair and began to drag her down the street prior to being being arrested. A report on nola.com states that posts from a Twitter user with the handle rockie 91, apparently from Will Smith's wife (Smith's wife's name is Racquel), have surfaced indicating that the incident was a misunderstanding and had been blown out of proportion. Domestic abuse battery is a misdemeanor offense and carries a maximum penalty of a $1,000 fine and 6 months in jail. It remains to be seen how Smith will plead in this case although sources speculate that the incident may have escalated primarily due to Smith's presence in the public eye.
