Confusion among the identities of the motorcycle accident causes problem with victim's treatment. A motorcycle carrying two people was hit May 8, 2015 at the corner of Elysian Fields Avenue and North Roman Street by a drunk driver, Donald Ealy. Both driver and passenger of the motorcycle were tossed in the air where their helmets flew off. The passenger, originally identified as Rita Martini, but later revealed to be Stephanie Bass, was pronounced dead in the hospital days after the accident. The driver, originally identified as Daquan Bass, is still in critical condition with severe brain injury. However, the driver was revealed to be Jamie Hancock from his family, who hired Seth Bloom to represent them and help resolve the confusion on the misidentified NOPD police report. Originally the driver of the truck, Mr. Donald Ealy, was charged with a misdemeanor 1st offense DWI. However, after calls from the family and Mr. Bloom, his charge has been upgraded to a felony.
