MADD, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, has issued a map of the 50 US states rated on their drunk driving prevention and punishments for offenders. Each state has been rated based on the following criteria: Ignition Interlock Laws: Some state require ignition interlock systems in vehicles after the first DWI/DUI arrest. MADD supports the use of 6 month ignition interlock systems after the 1st offense. Sobriety Checkpoints: MADD supports the use of random DWI/DUI checkpoints, which are legal in 38 states and the District of Columbia. License Revocations: Laws that allow law enforcement agencies to revoke someones license after the 1st offense. Child Endangerment Laws: MADD supports the 46 states and the District of Columbia that account for DUI/DWIs with a child in the vehicle as a form of child abuse. No-Refusal Events: MADD supports the ability to have no refusal events, which streamlines a judge to signing a warrant to obtain blood if an offender is pulled over and refuses the breathalyzer. With Louisiana's new laws as of 2015, it sits amongst the 2nd to highest platform among approval from MADD.
