Festivals to Check Out in March

With the recent cold snap this week, it might not feel like Springtime in New Orleans. But the weather's expected to take a turn for the better in the next couple days right before the weekend, and given that it's festival season in the Big Easy, we wanted to keep you up to date on some the region's extravaganzas for the remainder of the month.

Wednesday-Sunday, March 22-26

TENNESSEE WILLIAMS NEW ORLEANS LITERARY FESTIVAL: The 30th annual celebration of arts and letters returns to the city Tennessee loved, with writing contests, seminars, dinners, gatherings and live theatrical productions throughout the region. tennesseewilliams.net.

Thursday-Sunday, March 23-26

Sigur Center, 8245 W. Judge Perez Drive, Chalmette. Louisiana crawfish dishes, live entertainment, rides and arts crafts are all offered at the Louisiana Crawfish Festival. $5 admission. louisianacrawfishfestival.com.

Friday-Sunday, March 24-26

NEW ORLEANS BOURBON FESTIVAL: Marriott Convention Center and other locations, New Orleans. Seminars, panels, tastings and judging for bourbon. Tickets vary by event. neworleansbourbon2017.sched.com.

Saturday, March 25

BRUNCH FEST NOLA: City Park, New Orleans. Food, music and a bloody mary contest are on tap for this salute to the midday meal, with funds benefiting the Louisiana SPCA. la-spac.org/brunchfest

Saturday-Sunday, March 25-26

SPRING FIESTA: French Quarter locations, New Orleans. Walking tours of the French Quarter and historic homes, with prices varying on tours. Queen's promenade and parade Saturday. springfiestanola.com.

Friday-Saturday, March 31-April 1

HOGS FOR THE CAUSE: Festival Grounds, City Park, 1701 Wisner Blvd., New Orleans. Two days of barbecue competition, entertainment and a celebration of the wonders of pork — all to benefit pediatric brain cancer patients. $25 and up admission. hogsforthecause.org.
