The family-owned bakery that survived the Great Depression and manufactured the classic fried Hubig’s pies burned down last night.

Authorities say a five-alarm fire originated somewhere in the Marigny factory’s fryer room some time around 4:30 am. Nobody was injured.

The bakery’s owners have expressed concern for the well-being of the company’s 40 employees but have vowed to return to operation.
