DWI patrols to increase over 4th of July holiday weekend
Officers across the state will be increasing DWI patrols for drunk drivers for the long holiday weekend. Thanks to the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission’s federal grants, the dates of July 2-6 will have increased patrols to arrest drunk drivers.
Last year for the 4th of July, there were 374 accidents, 10 of which were fatal. Of those 10, 7 involved alcohol. The increased patrols are part of the “Drive Sober of Get Pulled Over” campaign for safer roadways.
