Thanksgiving Tops Stats for Travel and DWI

Many people know that Thanksgiving is the biggest period of travel across the United States due to the extremely large number of individuals making their way to spend the holiday with friends and family. Thanksgiving is a time for family and togetherness and with family gatherings often come celebratory activities and a higher rate of alcohol consumption. This leads to a higher instance of impaired drivers on the road and can unfortunately turn the festive Holiday into a time of tragedy for many families. Many states and cities have begun strict enforcement policies against impaired driving due to the historically high number of alcohol-related incidents during Thanksgiving. Some states are even resorting to "no-refusal" sobriety checkpoints in which drivers have no choice but to submit to breathalyzer or blood tests. This means that even drivers who are not excessively impaired face the risk of being arrested. It is important to remember over the Thanksgiving Holiday to be extremely careful and to always use a designated driver or cab service when traveling from location to location. The temptation can be high to get behind the wheel after drinking to visit family members and friends but it is never safe. At Bloom Legal we understand, however, that people make mistakes. If you or a loved one are arrested for DWI over the holiday, contact Bloom Legal immediately to discuss the details of your case and to let us start working on it right away.
