Thanksgiving Holiday Checkpoints to Increase in Baton Rouge

Posted on Nov 26, 2013 in DUI/DWI, Local Issues

The Thanksgiving holiday is one of the most travelled holidays in America with most people traveling to spend time with their families. The Wednesday night before Thanksgiving is also credited as one of the busiest bar nights of the year. Due to these combined factors, the Baton Rouge Police Department will be increasing their presence to combat DWIs, speeding, and seat belts during the holiday. Using a grant from the Louisiana Highway Commission, the BRPD will increase regular stops for impaired drivers and “No Refusal” checkpoints. At a “No Refusal” checkpoint, a driver is still allowed to refuse, but an officer can have a judge sign a warrant and still take a sample from you. Be sure to check our DWI checkpoints map located here to find out checkpoints in and around your area. Never drink and drive. If you are planning on drinking, always use a designated driver. If you are intoxicated and you do get a DWI, please don’t hesitate to call Seth Bloom at Bloom Legal for a consultation. There is nothing easy about dealing with a DWI charge. Let Seth help you through this tough and complicated time. Call Seth Bloom at Bloom Legal, (504) 599-9997, or email info@bloomlegal.com.
