Vermillion Parish Man Accused of Third DWI

Curtis Stubblefield, of Erath, Louisiana, was recently convicted of his 3rd DWI charge earlier this week. In February 2012, Stubblefield's vehicle collided with a concrete bridge on North Road just north of Erath, and upon the arrival of law enforcement officials it became clear that Stubblefield was intoxicated; the 49 year old Erath man was swaying and smelled strongly of alcohol as he exited the vehicle. Anyone operating a vehicle with a BAC of .08 or higher can be issued a DWI, which is an enhanceable offense. The first offense carries a $300 to $1000 fine and up to six months in jail. Second offense brings a $750 to $1000 fine and between 30 days to six months in jail. A third offense carries a $5000 fine and between one and five years imprisonment. After his third DWI, Stubblefield facing 5 years hard labor with a fine of $2000. A DWI is a serious crime, and brings serious, life-altering consequences. Please stay safe, and drive responsibly.
