About New Orleans, Louisiana

New Orleans is the largest metropolitan area and largest city in the state of Louisiana.  New Orleans has a central business district located immediately to the north and the west of the Mississippi River that has traditionally been referred to as the American Quarter.  The French Quarter and Bourbon Street are popular party spots and notorious nightlife areas. People flock to NOLA from around the world to visit the French Quarter and Bourbon Street. St. Charles Avenue is the home of Tulane and Loyola University and many 19th century mansions.

New Orleans has consistently ranked as one of the top ten most visited cities in the United States, and was ranked first in 10 categories in a 2009 Travel and Leisure poll of America’s favorite cities.  New Orleans was deemed the best U.S. spring break destination, and the best destination for wild weekends.

New Orleans is also world-famous for its distinctive indigenous cuisine, which is a blend of French and Creole.  Tourism is one of the top industries in the city, but residents can also benefit from a thriving maritime and oil refining industry and university jobs with top research institutions.

A New Orleans Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Help You

The City of New Orleans is a wonderful place to visit and live. But like all major cities, there an influx of crimes committed in the area.  Police routinely arrest individuals for violent and non-violent crimes. In 2011, 1,326 incidents of assault were reported in New Orleans and a total of 14,013 reported non-violent crimes. This is a 5.4 percent increase in the rate of non-violent crimes compared to 2010.

Being arrested for a crime is a serious matter that could jeopardize your freedom and result in a permanent criminal record. Whether you live in New Orleans or were arrested when visiting the city, exploring the area, or celebrating Mardi Gras, you need a criminal defense lawyer to help if you have been accused of a crime.
