Britney Spears’ Kids - What about Child Protective Services?

Feb. 20th 2008

britneymtv.jpgWell, Britney Spears’ two boys have not seen their mother since mid-January, and it’s not clear if they are going to be able to be near their mom anytime soon.  Reuters reports that the Commissioner (aka judge) presiding over the Kevin Federline - Britney Spears custody fight has denied her request to alter his ruling from last month and there’s not any word on when that bar to Britney having any access to her boys will change.

Still, despite all the news stories - drug use, bipolar disorder, rehab, 5150 stays, reckless driving - where’s Child Protective Services in all this?  Shouldn’t they be involved here?

Britney Spears — Bipolar Disorder and Forced Medications

Jan. 30th 2008

britney_spears2.jpgTMZ is reporting that Britney Spears not only suffers from bipolar disorder, but she has seen numerous doctors for the condition and is being prescribed medication to treat the disease.  What is bipolar disorder?  Can the court make her take the medications?  Can she be stopped from seeing her boys if she’s not current on her meds?

Britney Spears - Synopsis of the Court Orders and the Other Legal Stuff: One Lawyer’s Take on the Whole Mess

Oct. 8th 2007

britneymtv.jpgFirst, the kids:  the next hearing in the Britney Spears - Kevin Federline custody fight is scheduled for 10/26/07 before Commissioner Gordon (am I the only one that thinks “Batman” every time this guy’s name pops up?) …. Here’s a round-up:

10.04.07 – Britney Misses First Court-Ordered Visitation With the 2 Boys

Britney’s kids wait in the car, stuck at the security gate, for 45 minutes and then return to Kevin Federline.  Britney Spears’ alleged reasons for not seeing her kids:  she was asleep and didn’t hear the buzzer, the intercom was broken, and today, Britney didn’t want to have the parenting coach around so she just didn’t answer the door.  Britney also tried to have the first visit in an hotel room, but Kevin Federline’s attorney nixed that (assumedly he threatened a court hearing on the issue) and Britney checked out of the hotel and returned home for the visit.

10.03.07  Visitation Order Requires Supervision Of Britney During Visits

Another hearing - another Order:  this one placing even more restrictions on Britney Spears, in part because the Judge noted she had not been in “substantial compliance” with his prior orders and also in response to Britney not showing up for drug testing.  Now, not showing up for a test will be  “deemed by the court as a failed test.”

Together, Commissioner Gordon’s two orders require the following:

Britney Spears’ Court Order - Things Are Getting Serious Now, Boy

Sep. 20th 2007

britney_spears.jpgBritney Spears was out partying again, within hours after the end of this week’s Custody hearing.  At the hearing, the Court determined that “there is a habitual, frequent, and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol” by Britney, and ordered her to have random drug testing twice a week, as well as testing clean for at least 12 hours before she has possession of her children.  (There’s also lots of counseling and classwork required for both Britney and K-Fed, and future court dates are set.)

TMZ has posted the Commissioner’s Order online  in case you want to read what Commissioner Gordon has required of both Britney Spears and Kevin Federline.

So, what’s really happening here?  Did Britney win or lose?  Did K-Fed get something here?

Britney Spears Nasty Custody Fight Begins: K-Fed Serves Alli … And What About Britney’s Lollipops?

Aug. 12th 2007

britney-spears-hollywood-clubs-sucking-lollipop1.jpgBritney Spears’ cousin/assistant Alli Simms was served with a subpoena in the early hours of Sunday morning. So was Brit-Brit’s music producer, JR Rotem.  What’s this all about?

K-Fed’s attorneys are working hard:  the custody fight was just filed August 8th, and already the discovery process has begun - looks like Alli’s going to have to give deposition testimony about her personal knowledge of Britney’s parenting skills (or lack thereof), as is Britney’s producer, JR Rotem.

What’s all this?  And, what’s all this about these lollipops that Britney is seen with all the time?  Is there a connection in the filing of the suit and the lollipop rumors?

Does Britney Spears WANT to Lose Her Kids to K-Fed or CPS?

Aug. 8th 2007

baby.jpgLast night, Britney Spears left work at 9 pm (she’s making a music video) and instead of going home to the kids, she went to party.  Yesterday, a college student named Matt Encinas (an extra in the video) claimed that Britney Spears invited him to a late-night pool party at a Hollywood hotel over the weekend, where Britney tossed her clothes and played topless spin the bottle.  Also this week, Britney hit a parked car while out shopping, left the scene without leaving a note with her contact info for the other guy, and managed to get herself photographed once again without underwear.

These are just the events reported in the past three days.

All these antics beg the question: does Britney Spears want to lose her kids?  Because if that’s the goal, she’s doing a fine job of it.   Why?

Britney Spears Vs. Her Mom

Aug. 1st 2007

britney_spears.jpgTMZ.COM is reporting a story from Life & Style that Britney Spears is telling her two sons things about Grandma Spears like, “She’s a bad lady,” according to an unnamed “insider.”  Brit doesn’t want her mom around her boys.  Britney’s mom, Lynne Spears, does have legal rights, though - and TMZ.COM covered those, as well:  under California law, grandparents do have legally protected visitation rights.

Britney’s got another legal fight on her hands here.

What if you’re like Britney, and don’t want your mom around your kids?
