Paris’ Birthday Cake Stolen for the Poor

February 23rd, 2011 | Posted in Celebrity Justice by bloom | No Comments »

The cake nabber, identifying himself as Paz on facebook, has shown himself to be a modern day Robin Hood
(and maybe a little Marie Antoinette) by stealing the $3,200 cake from Paris Hilton and feeding it to the Los Angeles homeless.

Shortly after Paris blew out the candles at one of her multiple 30th birthday parties, Paz, who had crashed the party with a friend, made an impromptu decision to make off with the cake. A waiter had commented on how the cake would probably be thrown out, so Paz quickly slipped by him lifted the cake and gave the security guard a cordial nod on his way out. Minutes later he sat in the passenger seat of his car with thousands of dollars of pastry on his lap.

Since then the media has given the story full coverage with 12,560 news articles, 322 television segments, and 147 interview requests for Paz. It was in light of all this media attention that the burglar decided to serve the cake on white paper plates to the homeless. It is rare that theft comes to such a selfless conclusion.

As of now, it is unclear whether Paz will be facing criminal charges. If you or anyone you know is arrested for theft, contact Bloom Legal at 599-9997 for a free consultation.

Football Star Laurence Maroney Arrested for Weapon Possession

January 19th, 2011 | Posted in Celebrity Justice, Drugs by bloom | No Comments »

The Denver Broncos’ running back was arrested last night while riding in a car carrying marijuana and three concealed handguns. Every passenger from the vehicle was arrested. Maroney was officially charged with gun possession and released the same night.

However, the ex-Patriot has released a statement and may get off without any conviction. Maroney is licensed to carry a concealed weapon, but he was not carrying his wallet at the time of the arrest preventing him from providing the permit to the arresting officers. Also in a time honored celebrity tradition, Maroney will avoid drug charges because the marijuana was the property of his friend.

In an interview with the area’s local news, Maroney was apologetic and holds no ill feelings toward the arresting officers. Responding to a question on why professional athletes choose to carry guns Maroney said, “We feel like we are the targets of most people because they know who we are, and they know we have money.”

November 7th, 2010 | Posted in Celebrity Justice, Local Issues by bloom | No Comments »

Stephen Rehage, producer of both the Essence Fest and Voodoo Experience, has been arrested for the alleged rape of a woman in June. On Friday Rehage surrendered himself to New Orleans Police Department sex crimes detectives, who were serving a warrant for his arrest on one count of simple rape.

In June Rehage arrived late for a date with the woman who had been drinking martinis while waiting for him. The pair enjoyed a few more drinks before heading to a restaurant for cocktails. The woman remembers speaking to several people seated at the bar before blacking out. She then allegedly woke up naked in a bed with Rehage choking her. She managed to whisper, “stop,” and Rehage released her.

After leaving the house, she had the staff at Interim LSU Public Hospital perform a sexual assault examination. They found vaginal tearing consistent with sexual assault and bruising around her neck. Her toxicology report later found that the prescription drugs propoxyphene and diphenhydramine were present in her blood. The drugs can produce drowsiness which is amplified by alcohol. At the time of the incident the woman did not wish to report to the police department, so it was classified as “unreported.”

Rehage admits having dinner with the woman and their drinking throughout the date but only acknowledged, “her intoxication and behavioral change.” The full story can be read at nola.com.

Lohan Back in Court

October 25th, 2010 | Posted in Celebrity Justice, Drugs by bloom | No Comments »

Lindsay Lohan will be back in the court room this week in connection with her failure of a court ordered drug test. She tested positive for cocaine after leaving the UCLA rehabilitation center. The offense can call for as little as thirty days or as much as up to one year of jail time if her probation is revoked completely.

Her attorneys believed that a second stay in rehab would score points with Judge Elden Fox and elicit a lighter sentence. However, other influences are at play that aim to see Lindsay in jail for quite a while. The Probation Department is putting pressure on Judge Fox to issue a harsher sentence in order to make an example of the actress. While the Probation Department does exert quite a bit of influence, the final decision is left up to Judge Fox alone.

Many complex systems and internal influences affect the outcome of court cases such as this. Even a simple possession charge should be handled by a defense lawyer familiar with these complications who can use his experience to fight for you. If you or anyone you know has been arrested for drug possession, contact Bloom Legal at 504-599-9997 to schedule a free consultation.

Jersey Shore’s Angelina Attacks Limo Driver

October 11th, 2010 | Posted in Celebrity Justice by bloom | No Comments »

As surprising as it is that any of the Jersey Shore cast would resort to violence, it’s been reported that Angelina, one of the shows participants, repeatedly struck her limousine driver in the head after a recent celebrity appearance.

While chauffeuring the reality star from a celebrity boxing match, the driver began to make sexual advances towards Angelina’s mother, Annmarie. After Annmarie made it clear she wanted nothing to do with the driver, he pulled the vehicle over and began viciously insulting her. An enraged Angelina punched the driver in his head multiple times in an effort to defend her mother. The driver then phoned his brother and a group of friends to come and fight the pair of women.

Angelina’s contact from the celebrity boxing organization arrived promptly to take the women away from the quickly escalating situation. She may have escaped unharmed, but Angelina may not be free from trouble.

Regardless of whether Angelina was right to defend her mother, she can easily be charged with assault and battery. The driver may have been in the wrong, but as the law is written, Angelina is vulnerable to legal ramifications. Many times the law does not fairly handle a situation such as this, and legal counsel is needed to reach a just result. Lindsay Lohan Avoids Traffic Ticket; Receives Temporary Respite from Legal Troubles

September 1st, 2010 | Posted in Celebrity Justice, Traffic by bloom | No Comments »

Fresh off of a stint in L.A.’s Lynwood Correctional Facility, Lindsay Lohan has reportedly received her first bit of good luck with the law in a long time.

Lohan was allegedly stopped by police officers for running through a traffic signal after leaving the Chateau Marmont Hotel. According to some sources, Lohan was trailed by a contingent of paparazzi which caused her to speed and drive erratically. After stopping Lohan, police are reported to have let her go with a warning while issuing citations to some of the paparazzi members involved in her pursuit.

Ms. Lohan’s unexpected break from the police serves as a reminder of the importance of behaving politely and courteously when being pulled over.

Should you or a loved one be pulled over for speeding or any other violation, it is important to remain calm despite the considerable stress that this kind of situation can cause. Remain polite and respectful with police officers without becoming overly-friendly or ‘conversational’. Comply with their instructions unless they request to search your vehicle or person without a warrant. If you are stopped and issued a ticket for any reason, contact Bloom Legal at 504-599-9997 to schedule a free consultation to discuss how we can help fight your ticket today.

Shocker…Paris Hilton Charged with Felony Drug Possession

Up to her old tricks, Paris Hilton has been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance – cocaine.

Paris Hilton Police Car Arrest

Hilton was stopped in Las Vegas by police who allegedly smelled the strong odor of marijuana emanating from a vehicle driven by Hilton’s boyfriend, Cy Waits, who has been arrested for DWI.

According to reports, after requesting access to her purse for lip balm, Hilton opened the purse at which point officers witnessed a small bindle of what appeared to be cocaine fall from the purse and into their hands.

Hilton is currently charged with possession of .8 grams of cocaine, an amount indicating felony status with sentences in Nevada ranging from probation to 4 years in prison. It is unclear at this point what the outcome will be while Hilton and her family adamantly deny her ownership of the cocaine (and, on occasion, the purse).

In any event, it is extremely ill advised to ever engage in the use or possession of controlled substances, least of all while driving. However, accidents happen and people make mistakes – if you have been arrested for or charged with a drug-related crime, Bloom Legal is here to ensure your constitutionally guaranteed right to competent legal counsel. JaMarcus Russell pleads Not Guilty to Possession of Codeine Syrup

July 21st, 2010 | Posted in Celebrity Justice by bloom | No Comments »

JaMarcus Russell plead not guilty today in connection with his arrest in
his hometown of Mobile, Alabama for possession of codeine syrup without
a valid prescription. Codeine syrup has seen a recent and dramatic rise
in use as it is a main drug used in the making of a recreational drink
called “purple drank” or “sizzurp”. Though a police investigation did
not specifically target Mr. Russell, his name as a user has been
repeatedly used both in his hometown and in Oakland as a member of the
Oakland Raiders.

Time can only tell what will happen to Mr. Russell, but when your name
is coming up multiple times in reports about illegal drug use, things
can only end badly. Mr. Russell may have other options, but as of now,
it seems that the best thing Mr. Russell can hope for is that there is
not enough evidence to convict him or that some procedural process was
violated. Either way, any drug charge is not a thing to take lightly.

If you or someone you know has been arrested or charged with possession
of a controlled substance, contact Bloom Legal at 504-599-9997 to see
what your options are and how Bloom Legal can fight on your behalf.

Mel Gibson and Adventures in Domestic Violence

July 13th, 2010 | Posted in Celebrity Justice by bloom | No Comments »

Mel Gibson has surfaced in the news again after allegedly admitting to punching his girlfriend in the face. After reports of a launched domestic violence investigation against the actor, recorded tapes surfaced which are said to be Mr. Gibson’s voice. In the tapes, the actor claims that he did in fact hit his girlfriend and that she “f***ing deserved it”. Also on tape are remarks supposedly made by Mr. Gibson where the actor drops racist and misogynistic remarks and states that if his girlfriend got raped, it would be her fault.

If true, while the remarks he made are certainly unfortunate and cannot be condoned, the case still comes down to whether he actually hit his girlfriend, and further whether the tape and its alleged admission can actually be admitted into evidence. Mr. Gibson certainly is not helping his profile (present/future and social/legal) much by continuing to alienate different population groups, but the bigger question still remains: will the LA County Sheriff’s Department have enough evidence against the actor to recommend charges being filed? We will know shortly.
