Cunningham was arrested back on January 13, 2015 during an alleged violent incident at the girlfriend's apartment in Algiers. The NOPD officer, who was suspended without pay for the first arrest, was arrested again on August 10, 2015 for domestic charges against the same girlfriend. The girlfriend spoke with police officers and informed them she feared serious injury with the latest incident and had urged him after the January arrest to seek counseling specifically for domestic abuse, which she claims he has not done. She did state, however, that he was seeing a doctor and prior to this latest arrest had been seeming better. Officer Cunningham was placed on emergency suspension without pay again. He is being charges with domestic abuse battery and false imprisonment in Orleans Municipal Court.
