OPSB Member Bloom Opposes Inspector General Lawsuit Appeal

Posted on Oct 10, 2013 in Local Issues

On Thursday afternoon, the Orleans Parish School Board will have a committee meeting to vote on whether to appeal the decision to have the Inspector General Ed Quatreveaux audit the board. Seth Bloom, Woody Koppel, and Sarah Udsin all want the Inspector General to do the audit considering past problems with the school board in terms of transparency. However, there is opposition within and outside the board to appeal the IG audit because of a state law that allows him to look into other semi-public agencies that expand into other entities outside of the School Board. While Bloom supports the audit, he is willing to hear opposition, especially in terms that the OIG can be a long, expensive, and painstaking process.
