A 5-year old girl and a 33-year old woman were killed near a child's birthday party in Central City. Witnesses stated that the killers were shooting at unidentified individuals who ran toward the party. 3 others were wounded. A man was fatally shot in the head near Toulouse and Gayoso streets. A 19-year old man was shot in the neck in eastern New Orleans. Sources did not establish his condition. Finally, a man was shot in the stomach in the 4300 block of Carrolton Ave. This string of violence serves as a stark reminder that no matter how far the city has come since Hurricane Katrina, much remains amiss in the areas of crime and violence throughout the city. Our thoughts go out to the victims' families. Crimestoppers is requesting the public's assistance in identifying leads as to the identities of the shooters. Callers are not required to give their names or to testify and can earn up to $2500 for tips that lead to an indictment. Crimestoppers can be reached at 504-822-1111 or 1-877-903-7867.
