The Show Must Go On

Posted on Mar 4, 2011 in Local Issues

With an 80% chance of rain tonight, Mother Nature is not cooperating this carnival, but it takes more than a little rain to keep a good city down. All of tonight’s krewes will be rolling regardless of the weather. [caption id="attachment_1746" align="alignright" width="263"] Photo Courtesy of beaumontenterprise.com[/caption] Hermes, Krewe d’Etat, and Morpheus will all be running through uptown although 30 minutes earlier than originally scheduled (Hermes rolls at 5:30 now), and Centurions will roll in Jefferson as scheduled. Be sure to pack your tents and umbrellas for the route in case of a drizzle, or if you’re lucky enough to live on the route, a house party would solve any precipitation problems. But then again, the weather’s warm and the beer is cold, so what’s the harm in a couple rain drops. The million dollar question is whether or not Endymion will run tomorrow. The rumor mill is hard at work and is indicating that the super krewe will be running rain or shine, but there has been no official, definitive statement as of yet. If rain forces the parade to reschedule, Endymion will be rolling behind Bacchus on Sunday night combining Uptown’s and Mid-City’s crown jewels to form the super krewe singularity. Rain or shine this will be a Mardi Gras to remember. Be safe and have fun.
